List of the streets with ‘Festival road surface marking’ announced, which is planning to be applied during ‘Baku 2019’ European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF). ‘Festival road surface marking’ will include yellow stripe, while ‘Baku 2019’ logo will be applied in the designated areas. Purpose of a special road marking is to make it easy for athletes and officials to reach the competition venues.
Yellow stripes will be applied to the following roads: Qara Qarayev avenue, Uzeyir Hacibeyov street, Azadliq avenue, Zarifa Aliyeva street, Neftchilar avenue, Ataturk avenue, Hanifa Alasgarov street, Tbilisi avenue, Heydar Aliyev avenue, Rashid Ismayilov street, Ziya Bunyadov avenue.
Only EYOF ‘Baku 2019’ vehicles will be allowed to use marked roads on July 17-28. This rule will be applied to vehicles with special passes and logos on them. Unauthorised drivers who will make attempt to use these roads will be subject to the administrative liability.
One of the most important tasks was to guarantee special buses to every person with ticket or accreditation during Opening and Closing Ceremonies, following past experience of international sport events held in Azerbaijan. These buses will be operating from 28 May and Elmlar Akademiyasi metro stations to Baku Crystal Hall from 17:00 to 01:00.
EYOF ‘Baku 2019’ will feature seven days of competition in 10 sports such as athletics, basketball, cycling, gymnastics artistic, handball, judo, swimming, tennis, volleyball and wrestling at 12 competition venues, all of which are already existing, making this edition of EYOF also one of the most sustainable. Wrestling will join the sport programme for the first time in the EYOF history.
More than 3,600 athletes and team officials are expected to take part in EYOF ‘Baku 2019’, assisted by 2,500 volunteers.
